Buerger's
disease (Thromboangiitis
Obliterans) is an inflammatory disease
of the small and medium sized arteries
and veins of the extremities.
It is often seen in men and
appears to be directly related to
smoking. There may also be an
autoimmune element as well.
Raynaud’s phenomenon, ulcers
and pain are typically seen.
Immediate termination of smoking
is critical, but sadly, often difficult
to do for these patients.
