Dr. Hayakawa obtained his MD from the University of Manitoba and did his residency training in Plastic Surgery at the University of Manitoba. He did a fellowship in Microsurgery and Hand Surgery at The Buncke Clinic in San Francisco. He also obtained further training in Aesthetic Surgery at the Plastic Surgery Center of the Pacific, in Honolulu, Hawaii.
He is the former Head, Section of Plastic Surgery, Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada and the former Secretary and Program Chairman for the Group Association Microsurgery (GAM)/The Canadian Microsurgery Society.
