Professor Jonathan E. Isaacs, MD

Dr. Isaacs has received national and international attention for his clinical and research achievements in Hand and Peripheral Nerve Surgery. He has given multiple invited lectures on peripheral nerve and brachial plexus surgery and is recognized nationally as an expert on these topics. He runs the Orthopaedic Microsurgery Lab at VCU, which is supported in part by a grant from the Department of Defense.
Dr. Isaacs recently published his first book on the treatment of upper extremity arthritis, he serves on the Editorial Board of HAND (an international journal on hand surgery) and is a reviewer for the Journal of Hand Surgery. The American Society for Surgery of the Hand recently named him a “Young Leader in Hand Surgery.” He serves on local, regional and national committees focusing on education and advancement of hand surgery and orthopaedic surgery in general.
Dr. Isaacs is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Duke Hand Club, American Society of Surgery of the Hand, Richmond Academy of Medicine, Medical Society of Virginia, American Medical Association, Osteonecrosis Foundation, American Association of Hand Surgery, American Society of Peripheral Nerve and the Virginia Orthopaedic Society (on Governing Board).
